The Best Antioxidant there is.

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 3:02 AM Comments comments (1)
One of the most common causes of many of our chronic diseases is inflammation and the damaging affects of free radicals on the body.

Free radicals are naturally occurring in the body and are made up of positively charged molecules that search for free electrons to become stable. They often do this by stripping these electrons away from pathinogens and damaged tissue thus helping the body to heal.

This is our inflammatory response and, once their work is done and the body response winds down, these free radicals should be neutralised by antioxidants. Problems start when the body fails to wind down and the free radicals go on the rampage.

The good news is that the Earth is a massive negatively charged free electron factory. The bad news is that our Western lifestyles mean that we spend most of our lives insulated from its highly beneficial antioxidising effects. Our offices, homes, even our shoes are made of substances like rubber, plastics, wood etc that all serve as insulators or are at the very least not conductive in nature.

In short it is very hard for us to take in enough antioxidants to neutralise the over free radical production that many of us experience due to the body not winding down the inflammation response.

When we connect with the Earth by placing our skin in contact with it the negatively charged free electrons immediately flood our bodies neutralising the free radicals. Just half an hour with your bare feet on the earth a day will produce a beneficial effect.

Aches, pains, arthritic conditions, cardiovascular problems, slow healing from injury, and many other chronic conditions and diseases have been shown to be helped considerably by Earthing. Our Earth is the best antioxidant there is. All we have to do is connect with her.

Weathering the Storms

Posted on March 23, 2012 at 4:48 AM Comments comments (2)
Many of the physical symptoms we experience at the moment are as a result of the major energy shifts that are occurring around us. For instance we have recently had a major solar storm. Scientists have been concerned that such storms could cause major disruption to our electrical systems and yet every atom of our bodies contains electrons which is what electricity is made of.

If a solar storm can effect our electrical systems it can effect us.

So what to do? We don't have to be at the mercy of these shifts. Now is a good time to invest in having your body balanced. The techniques I use help the body to recalibrate after major shifts so that it adjusts more quickly and is less stressed by them. Listening to the body through muscle monitoring allows it to state what it needs to help bring it back into balance and integrate the energy shift.

What is Healing?

Posted on March 20, 2012 at 5:35 AM Comments comments (0)
Healing is not about believing that you are sick or broken, it is about accepting your wholeness - your amazing magnificence as a co-creator with the Universe, powerful and beautiful, as radiant as the stars. Accepting it, being it and sharing it with the world.

Anything that seems to prevent you doing this is just a cloud across your sun. Perhaps you can blow it away yourself, maybe you need the help of another to do it, but don't make that cloud your reality.

The Life Sandwhich

Posted on March 10, 2012 at 4:16 AM Comments comments (0)
When you find yourself becoming stressed by life and lost in that jungle of thoughts and feelings use this:

Those stressy thoughts and feelings that cause us anxiety, consume our energy and keep us awake at night are like a sandwich filling with nothing to contain it. Imagine egg mayonnaise and lettuce with no bread and you've only got your fingers to eat it with.

The bottom layer of bread is a part of our awareness that is very pragmatic. It is as it is. So when you look at the situation or issue see it as it is, right now, without judgement  - what's actually here, what is actually happening right now.

The top layer of bread is a higher level of awareness that we all possess, our soul awareness where we know that everything is perfect as it is right now. How can we say this? Because as things have played out this is where we have ended up. Again there is no judgment here just the understanding of the perfection of the moment.

The filling is all the mental emotional stuff where we write the stories about the situation, look at how it was, worry about how it could end up in the future, judge it, analyse it. In fact nothing at this level is as it seems to be.

So when yourself getting caught up in the filling bring the slices of bread back into the mix.

Cramping Muscles

If you have a cramping muscle instead of massaging it try feathering it very lightly over the surface.

Just one of the great tools you learn in Touch For Health.

The Best Internal Workout There Is

Posted on February 25, 2012 at 4:50 AM Comments comments (2)
The best internal workout you can give yourself is good breathing.

In through the nose expanding and filling the belly, then the chest right up to the shoulders. Then breathing out and reversing the process emptying the belly last.

When you do this you fill your whole lungs and you expand your diaphragm properly. You can feel it working all the muscles of your torso from inside - all those core muscles get stretched and worked. When the diaphragm is worked properly like this is massages all the internal organs and helps to pump your lymph which is important for fighting infection.

You will also notice that your sacrum, spinal column and head move with the breath in an 'S' shape helping to pump your cerebrospinal fluid and keeping your back flexible.

Good breathing will also help you to release stuck energy, particularly emotional stress which tends to collect around the diaphragm and belly.

Take a few minutes a few times a day and focus on your breathing. The more you do this the more natural good breathing becomes and the less stressed you will feel.

Mind Your Language

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:10 AM Comments comments (0)
Language has a profound effect on our bodies, right down to the level of our DNA. The words we use can encourage our energy to flow and boost our confidence or they can do the opposite.

For example how often do you use the word try? Have you ever actually succeeded in something you've 'tried' to do? As Yoda so eloquently puts it, 'Do or not do, there is no try.'

The body does not understand 'try' because it can only do or not do.

Tell yourself that you are trying to do something and observe how that feels in your body. It feels really hard work to me and my confidence dips. Now tell yourself you are aiming to do the same thing or having a go at it and notice how your energy and body feelings change accordingly.

We feel bad when others put us down. It's no different when we put ourselves down, we respond in exactly the same way. We may not be able to change the way others talk about us but we certainly can when we talk to ourselves about ourselves. Notice how your energy is when you put yourself down and how it changes when you compliment yourself.

Mind your language.

Air and Water

Our two best health maintenance tools are absolutely free. Without them we won't live long and yet we take them for granted and even forget about them.

Good breathing and drinking water.

When we breathe properly our whole body is involved. As the lungs expand fully our internal organs are massaged and we experience an inner stretch which exercises our muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. Our spine also gets a good stretch and the rhythm of breathing in and out helps pump our cerebral spinal fluid and lymph.

A good breathe begins in the belly, moves up to the chest and the shoulders as we breathe in and then the process is reversed as we breathe out. Try it. Notice how it gives you a good stretch and how energising it is.

Not putting water into your body is like not putting oil in your car. The body prioritises where it sends water and the internal organs get it first. The brain, which is very water dependent to work well, is not at the top of the list, neither are your muscles. So, if you are not drinking enough your ability to think clearly and to feel energised will be impaired and you are more likely to have aches and pains in your muscles.

So, 2 key tips for good health - work on good breathing and drink plenty of water.
